STEP 5 - YOUR NEW ADDITION

When you become a mom, you want your baby to have the very best.

It doesn’t matter if this baby is your first or fifth, you want everything to be perfect for your new little bundle of joy.

As you know, your DIAPER BAG becomes the one thing that travels with you EVERYWHERE and contains EVERYTHING (except your baby).

Which means the Diaper Bag is a great place to start including healthy basics into your baby’s young life.

And, as you’re about to see, Essential Oils can become your new best friend when it comes to caring for that precious baby.

In this class we will cover a wealth of Do It Yourself recipes for your baby—and even a few for you, too!

While you may have heard that you should not begin using Essential Oils with your baby until he reaches at least three months of age, it IS safe to use them, even with newborns, BUT…

You must be sure to DILUTE!

A good rule of thumb for diluting is to use one drop of oil per month of age in a 10 ml roller bottle; but when using Essential Oils with newborns or infants under three months, BE SURE TO DILUTE the oils to prevent skin irritation!

Also, always do a test patch and watch for any skin reaction. If a reaction is present, do NOT wash the area with water! Instead, use a carrier oil such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, or even Vegetable Oil if you have no other carrier oil on hand. The carrier oil with further dilute the Essential Oils without pushing them further into the skin.

Below are dilution guidelines that follow a stricter ratio:

1 tsp. carrier oil to 5ml or 1/6 oz. bottle

2 tsp. carrier oil to 10ml or 1/3 oz. bottle

Use the above to create your own diluted blends. But if you are following a recipe that gives percentages for dilution, here is a chart to help you interpret those percentages, followed by an Age Guideline Chart:

5ml Bottle

0.5% = less than a drop

1% = 1 1/2 drops

2% = 3 drops

3% = 4 1/2 drops

4% = 6 drops

5% = 7 1/2 drops

10% = 15 drops

10ml Bottle

0.5% = 1 drop

1% = 3 drops

2% = 6 drops

3% = 9 drops

4% = 12 drops

5% = 15 drops

10% = 30 drops

AGE GUIDELINES

For 0–12 months, start with the 0.5% and work your way up to 2%.

For 1–5 years, use 3% to 5%.

For 6 and over, use 10%.
